Welcome to the BEC Web Site!

A Personal Word from the General Secretary

The BEC is a council of twelve Constituent Member church bodies and over 45 Associate Member local churches, representing between them some 1,200 local churches containing, in 1995, about 80,000 members. Details of the Constituent Member bodies are shown below.

All BEC Members and Supporters have affirmed their adherance to the BEC's Doctrinal Basis, which is a statement of orthodox evangelical truth covering seven key topics.

The Constitution of the BEC contains a full definition of our aims, but these can be summarised thus:
  1. To promote Christianity in the British Isles by means of a fellowship of evangelical churches

  2. To resist all departures from the evangelical faith and that ecumenism which lacks a vital gospel base

  3. To advocate Christian principles and resist ungodliness in public life

  4. To represent the evangelical viewpoint to public bodies on matters of common concern

  5. To co-operate with similar bodies faithful to evangelical principles in other lands

By following the links on this page you will be able to find out more about the work of the BEC.
